Apple is making significant investments in the field of spatial computing, as suggested by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg. It’s reported that they are developing two distinct versions of their Vision Pro headset: one designed for reduced weight and affordability, while another version is intended to seamlessly connect with a Mac computer for exceptional low-latency operation.
1) The tethered variant caters to professional users requiring minimal delay, such as those employing it for flight simulations or surgical visualization. On the other hand, the cost-effective option has been developed to broaden the reach of the Vision Pro, offering a more budget-friendly price and user-friendly design compared to its initial launch in early 2024, priced at $3,499 USD.
Despite the fact that these advancements are currently under development, it’s said that Apple aims to eventually create true-to-life Augmented Reality (AR) spectacles – lightweight and designed for everyday use, resembling ordinary eyewear more than tech devices. Although AR glasses might take a few years to become available, these upcoming models could potentially move Apple a step closer to bringing this vision into reality.
