For quite some time now, fans have eagerly anticipated a live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda. This long-awaited project has been a top demand among enthusiasts for years. Back in 2023, we first got the exciting news that this movie was indeed underway. Unsurprisingly, the most common query following the announcement was about who would portray Link and Zelda in this live-action adaptation. However, there was no official word on casting, leaving plenty of room for speculation… Until now. At long last, we have news about the cast for the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie! Interestingly enough, despite several big names being suggested, the creators of this live-action Zelda film have opted for two relatively unrecognized actors. Let’s delve into who will be bringing these iconic characters to life.
Who Will Play Link in the Live-Action The Legend of Zelda Movie?
In the upcoming “The Legend of Zelda” film, while not featured in the title, the protagonist, Link, is a crucial character. The role of Link will be portrayed by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth. Some readers of TopMob might recognize him as the unsettling child from Mike Flanagan’s Netflix series, “The Haunting of Bly Manor.” However, in this new role, he’ll shift from being eerie to being epic as he steps into the shoes of perhaps the most iconic video game lead character ever, Link. This casting decision for “The Legend of Zelda” movie seems inspired.
Who Will Play Princess Zelda in the Live-Action The Legend of Zelda Movie?
Fans of The Legend of Zelda, including myself, were eagerly anticipating that Hunter Schafer might portray the character Princess Zelda in the live-action adaptation of the series. To be honest, having Schafer cast would have been a brilliant choice, considering her impressive acting skills. It would’ve been wonderful to witness a transgender individual taking on such a significant role. Regrettably, it seems that fate had other plans as Bo Bragason has been chosen instead for the live-action Princess Zelda role. You may recognize Bragason from Disney+’s Renegade Nell, and we can’t wait to see her performance.

Shigeru Miyamoto from Nintendo took to social media to express his admiration for a pair of actors. He mentioned, “This is Miyamoto speaking. I am thrilled to disclose that for the live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, Bo Bragason will portray Zelda, and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will embody Link. I can hardly wait to witness their performances on the big screen. The movie is set to hit theaters on May 7, 2027. Thank you for your understanding.
If Shigeru Miyamoto finds the casting choice for the live-action “Legend of Zelda” movie acceptable, then we consider it satisfactory as well.
