Director Zack Snyder posted the image along with a quote from Affleck, who said he took it with his Leica Monochrom camera and 50mm lens, promising to share more photos later. DC fans say the picture brings back fond memories of Affleck’s debut as Batman.
Ben Affleck first portrayed Batman in the film Batman v Superman, and then reprised the role in Suicide Squad and Justice League. While his performance as the character received a lot of positive attention, it wasn’t without its difficulties. Affleck has publicly discussed the challenges he faced while filming Justice League, describing it as a tough period.
Filming for the 2017 movie was disrupted when director Zack Snyder had to step away due to a personal tragedy – the loss of his daughter. Joss Whedon was brought in to complete the film. Afterwards, several reports surfaced about a stressful work environment, including disagreements about the film’s direction. Some viewers and critics, like Todd McCarthy of The Hollywood Reporter, also observed that Ben Affleck appeared unenthusiastic during filming, as if he didn’t want to be there.
Following his work on Justice League, Ben Affleck decided not to continue acting in or directing The Batman. He explained that he couldn’t develop a story he was happy with and also needed to prioritize his personal well-being. This time also involved his commitment to recovery, as he sought treatment for alcohol addiction.
