Zack Snyder isn’t closing the door on more Justice League.
Zack Snyder recently spoke with Josh Horowitz on the podcast Happy Sad Confused (you can watch the interview here). Horowitz asked him point-blank if fans should expect to see any further development of his original plans for Justice League. Snyder gave a straightforward answer.
He stated he’d never rule anything out, explaining that his experience working on the Justice League ride gave him a unique perspective.
Snyder recalled how unlikely Zack Snyder’s Justice League seemed at times, admitting there were moments even he doubted it would ever be finished. But against the odds, it was.

Snyder Defends the Fans
Snyder also passionately supported the fans who campaigned for his version of Justice League, and he pushed back against claims that they were behaving negatively or harmfully.
He acknowledged the criticism they receive, saying people often accuse them of being negative, but insisted they actually saved lives. He then strongly defended their actions, telling anyone who disagreed to stop criticizing them.
He pointed out that the campaign for the Snyder Cut included fundraising for suicide prevention, and he felt this positive charitable work by the fans doesn’t receive enough attention.

Justice League 2 and 3 Still Discussed
So, I’m hearing from Zack Snyder himself that those sequels he had planned for Justice League aren’t completely dead. He’s saying talks are happening about bringing some version of those stories to life, which is definitely intriguing for fans like me who were really invested in his original vision. It’s not a guarantee, but it’s a glimmer of hope that we might see where he intended to take those characters.
He mentioned they’ve discussed it frequently, adding that anything seems achievable these days.
He proposed several ways to expand the story, including a comic book, animation, or other media, and playfully suggested it could even be turned into a Broadway musical.
Even though those movies weren’t made, the plans for Justice League 2 and 3 haven’t been completely abandoned – the basic ideas still exist.

He Stands by Batman v Superman
Snyder reiterated his vision for Batman v Superman, emphasizing that the Ultimate Edition is his definitive cut of the movie. He also explained his choice to explore the flaws and complexities of his characters, rather than creating a more conventional, audience-tested version.
Snyder said putting Batman and Superman through difficult challenges was on purpose – a way to prove they were still heroes worthy of their status, like a test from mythology.
He understood that people often prefer their heroes to remain untarnished, but he was committed to questioning and challenging even the most beloved figures.

The SnyderVerse Question
Snyder has stated he views his DC film series as a complete story with a clear start, middle, and finish, like a mythological tale.
At the same time, he refused to declare the story permanently finished.
He noted the idea for a trilogy seems consistently popular, implying there’s ongoing interest even if DC’s current plans don’t include it.
There hasn’t been an official confirmation about whether this will continue. However, according to Snyder, he’s not ruling it out and is open to the possibility.

On James Gunn
Zack Snyder was respectful and supportive when discussing James Gunn and the current DCU.
He made it clear there’s no bad blood and said, “James is cool.”
Snyder highlighted Gunn’s unique storytelling style, noting his talent for combining mythology, pop culture, humor, and heartfelt emotion in a way that’s all his own.
Notably, Snyder presented Gunn’s DC Universe as a distinct entity from his own movie trilogy, not as a rival to it.
I heard the director explain that his take on the Justice League feels like its own separate story, a complete arc on its own. He made it clear it doesn’t clash with what James Gunn has planned for the DC Universe; it’s a standalone thing.
Snyder expressed his good wishes to Gunn and the new team leading DC, and shared his excitement to see their future work.
