This show tells the story of a rebellious young Sherlock Holmes as he first meets his nemesis, James Moriarty, and becomes entangled in a perilous murder investigation that puts his future at risk. What starts as a simple case quickly expands into a worldwide conspiracy, revealing how Sherlock developed into the famous detective known from 221B Baker Street. Set in Victorian England and other locations, the series explores the beginnings of Sherlock’s brilliant mind, bravery, and complicated sense of right and wrong.

Hero Fiennes Tiffin, famous for his role in the After movies, plays the lead detective. Dónal Finn takes on the role of Moriarty, and the show also features Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Max Irons, and Colin Firth. Guy Ritchie, the director behind the first two Sherlock Holmes films, directs the first two episodes, bringing his dynamic action style and visual creativity to the detective’s early cases.
Matthew Parkhill created and leads the series as showrunner. Dhana Rivera Gilbert, Marc Resteghini, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, and Colin Wilson also serve as executive producers, with Harriet Creelman and Steve Thompson as co-executive producers. Motive Pictures oversaw production.
With Ritchie now involved, people are wondering if he might direct another Sherlock Holmes film starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. Although a third movie isn’t official yet, fans can look forward to seeing a new version of the story in a series format first.
The show offers a look at Sherlock Holmes before he became the famous detective we all know, exploring the origins of the character and how the legend began to form. As The Playlist notes, it shows the early stages of his development, before the iconic Baker Street persona became fixed in popular imagination.
Starting March 4th, you can watch Young Sherlock only on Prime Video. The series explores the early adventures of the famous detective, filled with mystery, suspense, and exciting international cases.
