Sherlock Holmes is returning to television! Prime Video has released the first images of a new series called Young Sherlock, which explores the early days of the famous detective. Over the years, we’ve enjoyed many different versions of Sherlock Holmes, from Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in the BBC series Sherlock, to Henry Cavill and Millie Bobby Brown in Enola Holmes, and Robert Downey Jr.’s films alongside Jude Law. Now, Hero Fiennes Tiffin will star as the young detective, with Guy Ritchie – who also directed the Robert Downey Jr. films – directing this fresh take on the character’s origins. The first look at Fiennes Tiffin as Sherlock is promising, and fans are eager to see this new chapter in the legendary detective’s story.

Here’s a quick look at what the show is about: Young Sherlock is an exciting new take on the early life of the famous detective, capturing the same energy and style as Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes movies. The series follows a young, flawed Sherlock Holmes as he gets involved in a murder investigation that could ruin his life. This first case leads him into a worldwide conspiracy and completely changes his future. Set in 1870s Oxford and featuring adventures abroad, the show reveals the wild and rebellious side of Sherlock before he became the famous resident of Baker Street.










Dealing with the adult Sherlock Holmes is challenging enough, so a young Sherlock promises to be delightfully chaotic. Given how much we enjoyed Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes films, we’re excited to see this new take on the story. But it’s essential that Watson is included – Sherlock just isn’t Sherlock without him, regardless of the timeline! We did spot Moriarty in the promotional images, played by Dónal Finn from The Wheel of Time. It looks like their story might begin with a friendship at Oxford, and we’re really looking forward to seeing how their intense rivalry develops.

We envision this character as a younger, more spiritually-inclined take on Robert Downey Jr.’s famous role. It’s a fun idea, especially since everyone enjoys origin stories and the character of Sherlock Holmes.
