Tonight, Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto displayed his intriguingly deconstructed Fall/Winter 2025 collection at the iconic Hôtel de Ville in Paris. Building upon ideas from his menswear line showcased in January, he delved deeper into themes of deconstruction, layering, and innovative fabric manipulation to tap into his inner child’s imagination.
On the FROW, Chappell Roan, Michèle Lamy, and JID waited as soothing melodies echoed around them. The fashion show began with the initial design striding down the runway. Yamamoto’s trademark all-black attire was reimagined; pinstriped pants were transformed into high-low skirts using leather ropes, teamed with a see-through turtleneck and a flowing leather jacket. Following this, coats were turned inside out and knotted at the waist, showcasing extra fabric, while designs adorned with triangular panels were concealed by dangling cables.
This season, Yamamoto opted for purple as his signature color, showcasing it on reimagined car coats and boots with built-in flexibility. Swatches of leather and wool fabrics adorned a makeshift dress suspended on metal rods, accentuating the designer’s unique blend of deconstruction and perfection. The collection progressed with leather corsets, ruffled gowns, and distressed outerwear before concluding. To round things off, several models strutted down the runway in minimalistic black coats, supporting one another gently for a heartwarming finale.
