Y-3 Just Dropped a Limited-Run Vinyl of Its FW25 Presentation Score

Y-3 is converting its FW25 Presentation Score into a tangible form by releasing a limited-edition vinyl version of the Solitary Dancer-produced soundtrack titled Y-3002. On Monday, adidas and Yohji Yamamoto’s collaboration project was made available through Bandcamp as a hand-numbered batch of 333 vinyl records. The vinyl sold out swiftly, but the digital album can still be bought for $12 USD.

Previously, Yamamoto’s tech-blended tailoring and stylish sportswear were displayed at Pavillon Cambon, Paris, back in January. This was accompanied by a flashing LED screen. The dancer who worked with Y-3 for its comeback on the runway in SS25, described the music as a journey through contrasts: light versus dark, traditional versus digital, and real versus surreal. Since 2016, the electronic music duo has been working together, debuting their first album through Midland’s Graded Records.

Additionally, these musicians have been working on their individual musical ventures. Last year, they also collaborated with Stone Island for its MATERIAL RESEARCH ‘984 – ‘024’ exhibition. This partnership, along with the one with Y-3, is a reflection of the increasing number of audio-centric projects emerging from fashion brands. For instance, Kith has introduced a Limited Edition Bose 901 Speaker, Valentino opened an L’Atelier Sonore listening room in New York City, and Balenciaga curated a playlist featuring Britney Spears. These examples demonstrate how sonic branding is undergoing significant evolution.
