Marvel fans are getting just two theatrical movies in 2026: *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* in July and *Avengers: Doomsday* in December. While that might be plenty for those feeling burned out on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Disney+ will still offer several series throughout the year. At New York Comic Con this weekend, Marvel shared news about both its live-action and animated shows, with the animated updates being particularly exciting.
Shall we go chronologically? Why yes, we shall.
Wonder Man – January 27
Let’s start with the Marvel series arriving soonest, *Wonder Man*. Originally slated for release this December, Disney+ has moved the premiere to early next year. A trailer recently dropped, and it’s intriguing! It seems the show might not feature a traditional superhero storyline – or perhaps that’s just the character, Simon Williams (played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), fully embracing his role. The premise suggests he develops powers *as* he gets into character. Either way, it looks promising, with Sir Ben Kingsley also starring as Trevor Slattery.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 – March
Although there wasn’t a trailer released, we now know that the first season of *Daredevil: Born Again* will pick up its cliffhanger storyline in March. The last time we saw New York City, Mayor Wilson Fisk had imposed martial law and banned all masked heroes, even imprisoning characters like Swordsman and Punisher. Daredevil will respond by assembling a team of vigilantes, and his former teammate from the Netflix *Defenders* series, Jessica Jones, will be joining the fight.
X-Men ’97 Season 2 – Summer
Get ready for more action! The critically acclaimed animated series *X-Men ’97* is coming back for a second season in the summer of 2026. The first season was a rollercoaster, featuring heartbreaking losses and a huge battle with devastating consequences. The season ended with a lot of unanswered questions and exciting storylines to explore.
It’s wild! Half of the X-Men somehow traveled back in time to Ancient Egypt and encountered a young Apocalypse. Meanwhile, Cyclops, Jean Grey, and their daughter Rachel Summers, along with a baby Cable, were flung far into the future. Plus, the movie teased the possibility of seeing other classic X-Men teams like X-Factor and Excalibur. I’m really excited about it!
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 – Fall
The year started strong with the first season of *Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man*. While the art style took a little getting used to, the show offered a fresh and enjoyable take on Peter Parker’s beginnings as Spider-Man. True to form, *YFNSM* featured plenty of supervillains – including Scorpion, Doc Ock, and Tombstone – and even included appearances by characters like Doctor Strange and Daredevil.
Season two promises to include Gwen Stacey and Venom, which is very exciting.
VisionQuest – Winter
It feels like we’ve been waiting forever for this show to finally come out! *VisionQuest*, a follow-up to the 2021 series *WandaVision*, will center on White Vision (Paul Bettany) as he embarks on a mysterious journey – possibly a search for purpose. Honestly, details are scarce, but it seems the series will largely be about a conflict between AIs. James Spader will reprise his role as Ultron, and James D’Arcy will return as J.A.R.V.I.S., alongside Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H. Todd Stashwick (from *Star Trek: Picard*) will play a bounty hunter named Paladin, and T’Nia Miller, known for her work with Mike Flanagan, will play the robot Jocasta.
We’ll likely find out more details about the show – possibly from Terry Matalas, who’s running season three of *Picard* – as we wait for it to be released over the next year or so.
Every season a new Marvel show…I dig it!
