WILDSIDE Yohji Yamamoto Repurposes Archival Fabric in Limited-Edition Patchwork Cushions

Summary

  • On Saturday, June 7, WILDSIDE Yohi Yamamoto Harajuku will sell a limited edition cushion made from the label’s archival fabrics.

Yohji Yamamoto’s WILDSIDE brand takes his distinctive deconstructed and vintage design style a step further with its latest exclusive collection. Rather than providing an apparel assortment, this time WILDSIDE is reusing old materials to create a unique line of patchwork throw pillows, each one-of-a-kind.

Each cushion showcases a diverse collection of eight textured fabrics, arranged in a patchwork quilt of rectangular pieces. The designs range from sophisticated textiles such as a green and blue tartan woolen fabric and an intricate floral jacquard, to more rugged materials like camouflage sherpa and solid greens adorned with stenciled typography. WILDSIDE Yohji Yamamoto logos are strategically placed within the design, continuing the stencil theme on both the front and back sides.

Yohji Yamamoto has previously launched several throw blankets, many of which were part of his Y’s for Living line. However, the latest release takes his label’s recent explorations into homeware, particularly craft-oriented ones, to a new level. Meanwhile, in 2022, WILDSIDE teamed up with EYEFUNNY to present a limited edition charcoal-toned stool embellished with floral patterns. In 2023, the brand partnered with Miyoshi Rug to convert its iconic red flower pattern into a tufted rug. Similar to previous collaborations, these cushions are produced in a very small quantity, each one hand-stenciled from number 1 to 20, and accompanied by a unique serial number.

At a price of 24,200 yen or approximately $170 USD, the Special Edition Patchwork Cushion from Yohji Yamamoto for WILDSIDE will only be available at their Harajuku store.
