Who Is Part of the Soldiers’ Table in CRITICAL ROLE CAMPAIGN 4?

The announcement of Critical Role Campaign 4 included a surprising detail: thirteen playable characters. Many wondered if that was too many for a single campaign. However, it quickly became clear that not all characters would be active at once. Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan planned to use a “West Marches” style of play, meaning a shared world with more adventurers than could fit in one session. As Mulligan explained, this style closely resembles the kind of fantasy storytelling fans enjoy. Essentially, smaller storylines would develop within the larger Dungeons & Dragons campaign, but all would connect and affect each other. To help organize these storylines, Critical Role Campaign 4 divided the players into three groups, or “tables”: the Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers. Now, the members of the Soldiers table have been revealed, and the lineup isn’t quite what fans predicted.

Who are the characters sitting at the Soldiers’ Table in Critical Role Campaign 3? What does it mean to be part of this group? And what can we anticipate happening with their storyline? Here’s a breakdown of the Soldier’s Table and what it represents.

Who Is Part of the Soldiers’ Table In Critical Role Campaign 4?

The third episode of the campaign revealed who would be part of the group known as the Soldiers’ Table. The members are Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), and Wicander, or Wick, Halovar (Sam Riegel) in Critical Role Campaign 4.

We initially thought Teor Pridesire and Kattigan Vale might be soldiers in Critical Role Campaign 4, but we were genuinely surprised to see Tyranny and Wick join the group. It seems they might be more resilient and dedicated than we gave them credit for.

What Does It Mean to Be Part of the Soldiers’ Table?

Being selected for the Soldiers’ Table in Critical Role Campaign 4 doesn’t automatically reveal anything about a character’s personality. When Brennan Lee Mulligan introduced the idea, he explained that the Soldiers’ Table is designed for players who enjoy stories heavily focused on combat and conflict, where peaceful solutions are rare. Essentially, Critical Role Campaign 4 chose players for this group based on their preferred playstyle – in this case, a campaign with a lot of fighting.

Given how much Critical Role focuses on storytelling, it’s likely the theme of a soldier will also become important for the characters and their journeys.

What Has Brought the Members of the Soldiers’ Table Together?

So, how did the group known as the Soldiers’ Table come together in Critical Role Campaign 4? For Wick and Tyranny, it started with discovering the Halovar family’s deceit. Wick realized the Candescent Creed, the religion his family promoted, was actually a way for them to control others. They were even draining the blood of a powerful, god-like being for their own benefit. Once Wick and Tyranny understood this, they intervened to save Teor Pridesire, whom House Halovar had attempted to assassinate.

Kattigan and Thimble argued and investigated to figure out why their plan to save Thjazi Fang from execution had failed. They discovered that a former ally of Thjazi Fang, named Casimir, had betrayed him, stealing all his wealth – including the Stone of Nightsong – and fled north to Gormalay in Timmony. Teor’s brother, Cyd Pridesire, who was also part of the original rescue attempt, apparently realized Casimir’s betrayal and went after him.

After learning that Kattigan and Thimble are criminals, and that Wick and Tyranny have turned against their allies in House Halovar (who previously tried to kill Teor Pridesire), the group known as the Soldiers have decided to leave Dol-Makjar at the end of Critical Role Campaign 4, episode three. They also all have reasons to head north: Tyranny wants to get revenge on Casimir, Kattigan is familiar with the region, Wick and Tyranny might have useful connections and a place to stay, and Teor feels obligated to follow Wick. This shared purpose has brought the Soldiers together.

Where Will the Soldiers’ Table Campaign Episodes Take Place?

The group in Critical Role Campaign 4 is heading to Gormalay, specifically a region of Timmony north of Dol-Makjar. Kattigan doesn’t seem to like Timmony much, and the trip might mean some nights spent camping or sleeping outdoors – which might not be ideal for Wick!

What Will the Soldiers’ Table Plot Consist of in Critical Role Campaign 4?

Okay, so I’m really excited about the story of the Soldiers’ Table! We have a basic idea of what it’s about, but honestly, the specifics are still a mystery. What is clear, though, is this amazing little teaser Brennan Lee Mulligan gave us. He said their journey will be about five people heading north, a brother in trouble, everything falling apart, and…hopefully…revenge. It’s so intriguing and I can’t wait to see where it goes!

Throughout the first three episodes of Critical Role Campaign 4, glimpses of the Soldiers’ Table have been shown. However, the Soldiers won’t be featured in episode four.
