Several projects inspired by Robert Jordan’s popular fantasy novels are now being developed. The Wheel of Time quickly became a bestseller thanks to its detailed world and compelling characters. Following its initial run on Amazon MGM Studios, the series is expanding with plans for an animated show, multiple movies, and a video game. Thomas Vu, known for producing Arcane and his work with League of Legends, is partnering with iwot Studios to bring these projects to life.

Prime Video initially turned the fantasy series into a live-action TV show in 2021, but canceled it after three seasons. Now, Vu and iwot Studios are revitalizing the story. Through a collaboration between iwot and Initiate Entertainment, they plan to create a new video game, animated movies, and an animated TV series based on The Wheel of Time. Currently, these projects aren’t connected to any specific streaming services or distributors.
Vu is joining Anthony Borquez of Initiate Entertainment, Rick Selvage, CEO of iwot Studios, and Larry Mondragon, the company’s COO. Both Selvage and Mondragon previously worked as producers on an Amazon series.
iwot has clarified that its new projects are distinct from those previously announced. These earlier projects included a 3D prequel film for The White Tower, a live-action Age of Legends trilogy directed by Kari Skogland, and the AAA open-world RPG video games currently being developed at iwot Studios. Vu expressed enthusiasm about this expansion.
He believes there’s huge potential to build on The Wheel of Time by creating immersive storytelling experiences that are truly authentic, interactive, and animated. The rich and detailed world of the series offers a strong basis for expanding it into a long-term, multi-platform franchise.
This is a really exciting project! The epic book series, originally written by Jordan and completed by Brandon Sanderson, created a vast and imaginative world full of magic and adventure. Fans loved its compelling stories and well-developed characters. We were sad when Amazon’s adaptation of The Wheel of Time ended, so we’re thrilled to see the story being revisited.
