In collaboration with the Webber Gallery and independent publishing house MACK, an exhibition showcasing Yorgos Lanthimos’ photographic works will be held for the first time. Entitled “Yorgos Lanthimos: Photographs“, this upcoming event will display photographs from the acclaimed filmmaker’s recent books, such as “i shall sing these songs beautifully” and “ Kinds of Kindness“. Additionally, it will include images taken on set for the film “Poor Things ” that can be found in the photo book “Dear God, the Parthenon Is Still Broken “.
Known for his unique filmmaking style and intricate world-building that examines human connections through a surreal perspective, Lanthimos is widely acclaimed. This exhibition will offer viewers a novel viewpoint into the artist’s creative process, featuring actual film sets from New Orleans and Budapest, as well as reimagined cities and interiors from London, Lisbon, Alexandria, and Paris. The photographs have an unsettling ambiance and palpable tension, with subjects appearing at isolated, haunting moments, frequently displaying intense physicality and turned backs.
The “Photographs by Yorgos Lanthimos” exhibition is set to debut on March 30 and will be displayed until May 24 at the Webber 939 venue in Los Angeles.
