Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni are involved in a legal disagreement regarding a kissing scene filmed for the movie It Ends With Us.
A recent court document reveals that actor Baldoni alleges Lively unexpectedly added a kiss to a scene filmed in a hallway, a moment that wasn’t originally written in the script.
A clip from May 2023, shared by Wayfarer and others on November 13th, shows a scene from the series. In it, Lily, played by Lively, approaches Ryle, a neurosurgeon played by Baldoni, in a hospital hallway. She quickly kisses him while apologizing for the interruption, then tells him she also loves him. Ryle, looking both surprised and pleased, responds with, “Alright, cut.”

According to Blake Lively’s legal team, actor Giovanni Baldoni kissed her during every filmed take, despite the kiss not being written into the script. This is part of an ongoing legal dispute that began in December 2024 when Lively sued Baldoni for sexual harassment and retaliation. Baldoni then countersued Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and others, seeking $400 million in damages, but a judge later threw out that countersuit.
In her lawsuit, Lively claimed the director initiated unwanted physical contact that wasn’t planned, practiced, or talked about with her beforehand.
Following a January 2024 discussion with producers and actor Ryan Reynolds, Wayfarer Studios decided to employ an intimacy coordinator and committed to only filming pre-planned kissing scenes. While Reynolds’ team stated that all kissing scenes before the Hollywood strikes were scripted, the scene filmed on May 13, 2023, happened before the strikes began.
Messages reportedly exchanged between Blake Lively’s husband, Jason Baldoni, and author Colleen Hoover also surfaced. In those texts, Hoover allegedly stated she felt pressured to side with either Lively or Baldoni and expressed disappointment with the director. These messages were submitted as evidence by Wayfarer on November 10th.
