A bit of a scare happened at the premiere of Wicked: For Good when a fan ran towards Ariana Grande while she was on the red carpet.
Video of the incident shows a fan rushing towards Ariana Grande and wrapping his arm around her, nearly causing her to fall. Before security could intervene, Cynthia Erivo swiftly stepped forward and pushed the fan away to protect Grande.
Michelle Yeoh, standing close by, also took Grande’s hand to help her keep her balance when the crowd reacted with surprise. Everyone, including Grande, was shocked by the man’s actions, and she appeared visibly startled by the unexpected moment.
As soon as Erivo stopped the fan, security guards quickly intervened, removing the man from the stage area.

The movie Wicked: For Good first premiered in São Paulo, Brazil, on November 4th, and then went to London for an international event. Universal Pictures is planning to release it in the United States on November 21st.
It took years to get the movie made. Originally announced in 2012, the project faced several setbacks before a director was confirmed. Filming started in 2022, but had to be temporarily stopped in 2023 due to the actors’ strike. Production continued and wrapped up in early 2024.
Even after the surprising incident on the red carpet, Erivo and Grande remained poised and continued taking photos throughout the evening, demonstrating their professionalism.
