Was Loewe FW25 A Lovely Goodbye?

Instead of hosting a runway show during Paris Fashion Week and traditional catwalk events, Loewe chose to present a combined collection this season. Prior to the event, their creative director, Jonathan Anderson, shared what appeared to be a brief video montage highlighting some of his most impressive work over the past 12 years with the brand. This has left many wondering about the changes happening at Loewe.

Instead of participating in London Fashion Week, which they’re known for, Jonathan Anderson’s brand decided to skip it this time around. This decision has sparked quite a buzz. Although no formal announcement has been given so far, the Loewe show went on as planned.

The FW25 collection was displayed much like a museum exhibit within Karl Lagerfeld’s old historical residence on Rue de l’Université. Although the designer himself wasn’t there, his editorial influence was undeniably apparent. This presentation featured a textile partnership with the Albers Foundation, where the geometric artworks of Josef and Ani Albers were beautifully transformed into woven coats, skirts, and bags. The legendary Puzzle Bag design was deconstructed for display, evoking memories of Anderson’s most popular creations.

In this fashion display, an assortment of vivid and extended silhouettes dominated the collection. Men in oversized suits opted for casual styles with loose over-the-knee boots. The boots were also matched with oversized baseball tees transformed into ponchos and matching leather trenches. For the male models, mannequins wore mohair hoodies and baggy pants, lounging on chairs adorned with a variety of comfortably laid-back footwear.

In summary, Loewe is planning a trip to Tokyo from March 29th until May 11th for the upcoming exhibition titled Crafted World.
