Wales Bonner Drops First Standalone Womenswear Collection for FW25

Although Wales Bonner did not present at Paris Fashion Week this season, their Fall/Winter 2025 lookbook still made a strong impression when it was quietly revealed earlier this week. The collection starts with the word “Selah,” which signifies a moment of pause in music. While Grace Wales Bonner is widely recognized for her influence on menswear over the past decade, the FW25 lookbook marks her debut as a womenswear designer.

The designs are predominantly airy, moving towards introspective styles. Tuxedo jackets are tailored sans blouses, while pleated trousers are teamed with a cardigan trimmed in leather. A duffel jacket is creatively transformed into a leather shift dress. Notably, the classic Mary Jane and tracksuit have been reintroduced. The coordinating set appears in a brown hue with an eye-catching orange stripe, enhancing a macrame dress featuring the same color scheme.

Some of the more daring styles offer updated cavalry coats adorned with satin accents and gold buttons, crafted in collaboration with Saville Row tailors Anderson and Sheppard. A tee showcases striking motifs courtesy of photographer Moneta Sleet Jr., thanks to The Black Image Corporation, a creative endeavor spearheaded by both Chicago and Japan-based artist Theaster Gates.

Despite being centered around classic women’s fashion shapes, the line subtly incorporates elements of Bonner’s casual men’s wear style, creating a harmonious blend of the two.
