Vybz Kartel is officially scheduled to perform his first US show in more than 20 years.
Vasaabii, the dancehall legend, revealed his plans to perform at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on April 11, following the restoration of his US and UK visas in late January. Kartel expressed his appreciation for this opportunity to entertain U.S. audiences once more, stating, “This is a significant milestone for me and the dancehall culture. Performing on American soil again for my fans is a blessing I don’t underestimate. The anticipation has finally ended. New York, prepare yourselves.
CJ Milan, head of Reggae Fest, expressed, “This upcoming event will mark the largest dancehall concert ever held in the United States. Sharing the stage with the world’s top dancehall artist at Barclays Center is nothing short of incredible! It’s high time that dancehall music receives the recognition it truly deserves. I’m thrilled to announce Vybz Kartel, making his U.S. debut for this show.
20 years since his last visit, Kartel set foot on American ground this February, nominated for Best New Reggae Album at the GRAMMY Awards. Additionally, he had a unique performance at the MOBO Awards in England, and he is scheduled to perform at London’s Wireless Festival as well.
Ticket presale begins March 4, followed by a general sale on March 6.
