Vine Is BACK Thanks to diVine, an App With Archived Content and More

I often find myself longing for the early days of social media. I remember when Facebook first started, you needed a college email address to join, and platforms like Twitter and Tumblr were all about casual conversations, sharing fun content, and just connecting with others. It wasn’t about becoming famous or seeing endless ads and AI-generated posts. And who could forget Vine, the short-form video app that was incredibly popular? Sadly, Vine shut down in 2016, but there’s exciting news! A new app called diVine is aiming to revive the Vine experience, even including archived videos, and it’s being supported by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey. The app was created by Evan Henshaw-Plath, also known as Rabble, who was an early employee at Twitter.

According to TechCrunch, the diVine app will have more than just old content. It will also let you create a new profile and upload Vine videos. And, in an effort to fight against the constant barrage of AI content, diVine will flag content that is suspected to be generative AI and keep it from being posted. Cheers, we can watch real people post real and fun things again just for the heck of it. Dorsey’s nonprofit “and Other Stuff” helped to finance this new Vine inspired app.

Rabble told TechCrunch they wanted to create something that evokes a sense of nostalgia. They envision a platform that allows users to revisit older content while also offering the kind of social media experience where people have control over their feeds and can be sure the content comes from real people.

I’m really excited about this! diVine is letting users revisit classic Vine videos and make new ones today. You can download the app on both iPhones and Android phones.
