A funny moment during the halftime show of the Knicks-Cavaliers game on Christmas Day, featuring Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith from Inside the NBA, quickly became popular online.
I have to say, watching these two together is always a blast! They took what started as a lighthearted bit and just completely ran with it, turning it into wonderfully chaotic fun. It’s clear their on-screen connection is still incredibly energetic and unpredictable – in the best way possible!
The funny moment started when Kenny Smith playfully bothered Shaq about his holiday hat. This led to Shaq running across the set towards the large video screen. Because of his size – over 300 pounds – Shaq couldn’t slow down and accidentally bumped into the screen, knocking it over. Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson were in hysterics as Shaq briefly disappeared behind the falling display.

It quickly became clear the car crash was faked as part of the show. Shaq walked away without a scratch, and his co-hosts showed viewers the safety padding hidden behind the screen. Later, Shaq playfully referenced the stunt, saying, “We’re a team, and I’m happy we’re all okay. And to the new network we’re joining, we’re not messing around!”
Despite moving to ESPN, the show still had its signature lively and fun atmosphere. Viewers online loved the segment, especially its funny moments and the engaging personalities of the well-known basketball commentators.
