Commemorating a decade of cherished camaraderie, I find myself elated to be part of Tom Wood‘s latest creative endeavor, teaming up with iconic Japanese fashionista Kozue Akimoto. Dubbed “Chiyu,” these enchanting rings resonate deeply, stirring emotions of safety, healing, and fortitude – like a symbolic embrace and shield.
Following her finger injury, jewelry designer Mona Jensen sought to express concepts of revival through her designs. In a statement, Kozue Akimoto shared, “The initial concept stemmed from the healing process of an injury, thus we named the project ‘chiyu’. This term signifies recovery and treatment after an injury, but it also implies regeneration, renewal, and the enhancement of something that’s already there.
As a gamer, I’ve come across these cool Chiyu rings that can be adjusted to fit various finger widths. They are designed to be worn both at the base and the tip of your fingers, mimicking the placement of a bandaid or brace on an injured hand when stacked together.
Tom Wood’s partnership underlines his dedication to eco-friendly sourcing and manufacturing, as the ring is crafted entirely from recycled materials. This choice results in a 90% reduction in carbon emissions compared to items made from new materials. The company specifically collaborates with manufacturers who have been RJC certified, ensuring that they adhere to top ethical production standards.
Have a glance at the images from our collection’s catalog displayed in the gallery above. The Chiyu rings can currently be purchased at Tom Wood stores as well as online. In Japan and South Korea, these rings are set to debut on March 14.
