Tom Welling has revealed his dream role in the new DC Universe. When asked which character he‘d like to play, he immediately responded, “Batman,” especially after a little prompting from his fellow actors.
A lot of fans believe Tyler Hoechlin would be a good fit for a role in the new DC Universe. Because Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne are often portrayed as having similar appearances, some think it makes sense for James Gunn to consider the Smallville actor.
Although it’s doubtful he’ll be cast as Batman, it would be great to see him involved with the Batman movies in some capacity.
An animated revival of the show Smallville is apparently being developed, but it doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet.
A new Batman movie within the DC Universe is in the works, and it will center around the “Bat-Family.” The film will introduce Bruce Wayne’s son, Damian Wayne, who will take on the role of Robin. James Gunn has called the movie a unique story about the relationship between Batman and his son.
Since James Gunn and Peter Safran became the heads of the DC Universe, Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav has stated that there will only be one Batman. Gunn’s plans include a film called The Brave and the Bold that will introduce the new Batman, drawing inspiration from the popular Batman comics written by Grant Morrison between 2006 and 2013.
Ben Affleck won’t be playing Batman in the new DC Universe. Matt Reeves’s Batman films will continue as separate stories under the ‘DC Elseworlds’ banner. Andy Muschietti, who directed The Flash, was initially set to direct a new Batman movie in June 2023, with his sister Barbara producing alongside James Gunn and Peter Safran. However, the project was put on hold to avoid clashing with Reeves’s The Batman: Part II, and to free up Muschietti for other work. By February, a writer was developing the script with Gunn, but Muschietti had stepped away from the project at that point.
