Todd Howard, the director of Bethesda Game Studios, admits he already regrets announcing The Elder Scrolls 6 so early. The game was revealed back at E3 in 2018, but there’s been very little news about it since. Although it’s now the main project for Howard and the team at Bethesda, people are still eager to learn when it will be released and see how it will play. Howard has stated that those at Bethesda wish they had waited to announce the game.
I was reading an interview with Todd Howard over at IGN, and of course, everyone wanted to know about The Elder Scrolls 6. He was pretty funny about it, actually! He basically said we should all just forget they even announced it! He explained that he really doesn’t like talking about games Bethesda is working on too early – he’d rather just show us when it’s almost ready. But he did mention that when they announced The Elder Scrolls 6 back in 2018, they wanted to reassure fans that it was happening, and that a new game in the series was definitely on the way.
Howard explained he prefers to shorten the wait between a game’s announcement and its release. Ideally, he’d like those two events to happen close together, but he acknowledges that’s not always practical. Sometimes, it’s necessary to build anticipation and consider business needs before a game is launched.
When Will The Elder Scrolls 6 Be Shown Off Again?

As a big fan, I wasn’t really surprised by what Howard said about The Elder Scrolls 6. Looking back at how Bethesda usually does things, it’s pretty typical. Remember when they announced Fallout 4 way back in 2015 and then released it just five months later? They did the same thing last year with the remastered version of Oblivion – announced and released it all at once! It’s clear Howard likes to keep things quiet for a while, and I think that means we’ll be waiting a bit longer to see more of The Elder Scrolls 6.
Bethesda hasn’t given any updates on when fans will get a better look at The Elder Scrolls 6. Without even a general release timeframe, it’s unclear if the highly anticipated RPG will come out on current gaming consoles. However, it’s reassuring to know that Todd Howard and most of the team at Bethesda Game Studios are now completely dedicated to developing The Elder Scrolls 6.
