By 2025, MTV will largely stop playing music videos – the very thing that made the channel famous and that many of us loved. Without videos or new, engaging music-focused programming, it feels like the network has lost its core identity. However, fans can relive those classic MTV days with “I Want My MTV Rewind,” a website offering a trip down memory lane with music videos and shows from years past.
This website was created by FlexasaurusRex, who has carefully built a collection of channels for users to enjoy. These channels feature classic music television moments, including the very first broadcast of MTV in August 1981, the Live Aid concert from 1985, shows like Headbanger’s Ball and VH1, and iconic series such as MTV Unplugged and 120 Minutes.
I absolutely love that this site is ad-free and doesn’t try to manipulate what I see with confusing algorithms – it’s such a relief compared to most social media! Of course, running a website dedicated to MTV music videos must take a lot of work, so I’m happy to contribute to the developer’s coffee fund to help keep it going.
