Pokémon is more popular than ever as fans celebrate 30 years since the game first launched! The Pokémon Company is planning special events to mark the anniversary, including a new photo feature in Pokémon GO and themed “Day In” and “Night Out” celebrations. For those who love dinosaurs and Pokémon, a new exhibit called the Pokémon Fossil Museum will open at the Fossil Museum in Chicago this March.

This exciting exhibition lets you see how Pokémon fossils stack up against real dinosaur fossils, like the famous T-Rex named Sue! You can even pretend to be a paleontologist and travel back in time. Originally shown in Japan, the exhibition is now coming to America, and everyone is invited to come explore!
As a huge cinema and pop culture fan, I recently visited this incredible exhibit on Pokémon Planet! It’s amazing to see Pokémon of every size – like a towering Tyrantrum next to Archeops – and then compare them to real fossils from the museum’s collection. It really gets you thinking… what would a fossilized Jigglypuff even look like? Would it have a skeleton, or would it just be… puff? I found myself completely lost in these fun, imaginative questions!
The Field Museum in Chicago will host the Pokémon Fossil Museum exhibit from May 22, 2026, to April 11, 2027. Visitors can meet Excavator Pikachu, Pokémon Professors, and scientists from the Field Museum during the exhibit.
The Pokémon Company is marking Pokémon Day with several special events. They recently created unique logos for each of the over 1,000 Pokémon! They’ve also partnered with other brands and released new products, with more exciting announcements expected. Pokémon is officially celebrating its 30th anniversary on Friday, February 27th.
