Charlie Day explained why he connects with the character Luigi, pointing out that Luigi embodies the spirit of the underdog. While Mario is the typical hero who fearlessly rushes into action, Luigi is more hesitant – he wants to help, but also wants to avoid danger, which makes him very relatable. Day also highlighted Luigi’s genuine innocence and his deep love for his brother, making him a character people naturally want to support.
For this 50-year-old fan, the enduring appeal of Super Mario lies in the character of Luigi. He finds Luigi particularly relatable, explaining that Luigi always looks for the best in people. He believes Luigi embodies the idea that everyone deserves a second chance, and that people can learn from their mistakes and be kind. He finds it inspiring that Luigi believes even those who have done wrong are capable of change and goodness.
Following the events of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie continues the adventure. This time, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad team up with Yoshi and Rosalina to journey into space and battle Bowser and his son, Bowser Jr.
