‘The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants’ Gets Exciting New Trailer

A fresh trailer for The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants is out now, offering fans a sneak peek at SpongeBob’s newest story.

The new animated SpongeBob SquarePants movie, the fourth film based on Stephen Hillenburg’s popular series, arrives in theaters on December 19th. It premiered at the AFI Film Festival on October 26th and will be distributed by Paramount Pictures in the U.S.

Derek Drymon, who has worked on the show for years, directed the movie. All of your favorite voice actors return, including Tom Kenny as SpongeBob, Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs, Rodger Bumpass as Squidward, Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick, Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy, and Mr. Lawrence as Plankton. This time, they’re joined by new cast members like George Lopez, Ice Spice, Arturo Castro, Sherry Cola, Regina Hall, and Mark Hamill, who is now the voice of the Flying Dutchman, taking over from Brian Doyle-Murray.

SpongeBob wants to show Mr. Krabs he’s brave, so he goes on a daring adventure to the deepest part of the ocean to face the Flying Dutchman. The movie is full of fun, excitement, and underwater thrills that everyone can enjoy.

Pam Brady and Matt Lieberman wrote the script, which was inspired by a story they developed with Marc Ceccarelli and Kaz, the creators of the series. John Debney, who previously composed the music for the 2015 SpongeBob movie Sponge Out of Water, is once again creating the film’s score.

Originally planned for release on May 23rd, the movie’s debut was shifted to December 19th due to scheduling conflicts stemming from the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Before the main film, viewers will enjoy an animated short titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Chrome Alone 2 – Lost in New Jersey.
