As a longtime fan who’s followed these iconic bands since my school days, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and disappointment. The prospect of an Oasis reunion tour is exhilarating, a chance to relive the magic of their music live once again. But the ongoing feud between Noel and Liam Gallagher, and the seemingly insurmountable divide between Morrissey and Johnny Marr, leaves a bitter taste in my heart.
Oasis is bringing joy to many music enthusiasts by scheduling a reunion tour across the United Kingdom (and Ireland) for their performances. A possible U.S. tour may follow, but it appears to hinge on the success of their UK concerts and the harmony between the band members. If things don’t work out, we might not see any more shows. So, let’s savor the ones that are happening now.
Despite the fact that Noel and Liam Gallagher often argue directly, Morrissey and Johnny Marr have had their fair share of indirect conflicts. It appears that legal disputes and cold behavior seem to be a common occurrence in their relationship. The unfortunate part is that music enthusiasts are the ones who ultimately bear the brunt of this strife.
Just as music enthusiasts felt a divide due to the rift between the Oasis brothers, leading them to refrain from performing together for an extended period of 15 years, one might ponder if it was due to lack of inspiration or an unwillingness to collaborate that caused this split. Similarly, Morrissey and Marr could be questioned about their decision not to work together again.
The Smiths will not let fans get what they want
As a devoted fan, I’ve been hoping for a while that Morrissey might announce a reunion tour with The Smiths. Yet, Johnny Marr seems to have shut down any prospect of such an event happening. It’s been three long decades since their last performance together. With all the excitement surrounding potential reunions these days, I can’t help but wonder: why would they decide to perform again now?
In response to a query on social media about Oasis reconciling for a tour, Marr playfully hinted at the improbability by posting a picture of a smiling individual enjoying a drink. The subtle message was laced with sarcasm, reminiscent of Morrissey’s style.
Maybe Marr deserves a standing ovation for his post? Fans should still be sad.

The biggest issue is that Marr and Morrissey have almost always had divergent views on politics and this has grown more divisive over the years. They care about such things. Smiths fans just want to watch the two play music together. That is likely a pipe dream, sadly.
