However, this experience may soon end for mobile users. Electronic Arts recently announced that after seven years and over 50 updates, The Sims Mobile will be permanently shut down in January.
This change will begin on January 20, 2026. Electronic Arts announced the news in a post on their website.

They’ve been consistently impressed by the creativity, kindness, and imagination of the Sims Mobile community, and are thankful for all the stories, creations, and Sims players have shared. As a thank you, and as the game enters its final phase, they’ve prepared some special surprises for players.
Don’t worry, Sims fans! The Sims isn’t going anywhere. The Sims 4 is still available and being updated for PC and consoles.
The closure comes after Electronic Arts (EA) became a private company instead of one owned by public shareholders. The purchase, worth $55 billion, was made by a group of investors including Silver Lake, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, and Affinity Partners, which is associated with Jared Kushner.
What to Expect From Sims Mobile Before It Shuts Down
EA is releasing a final update for The Sims Mobile, starting Monday, as a farewell gift to players. This update gives everyone unlimited energy and unlocks all building and character customization options so they can fully enjoy the game before it’s gone. The game is no longer available for download on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, but current and past players will be able to play with the new update until the servers shut down next year.
Though The Sims Mobile is ending, fans can still enjoy playing on PC and consoles. The Sims 4 is thriving with its latest update in September, and EA has hinted at a new Sims game that will focus on online multiplayer. More details about the new game will be revealed soon.
