In this world, *The Running Man* is a hugely popular show where participants, called Runners, try to stay alive for a month while being hunted by killers. People watch it as a form of entertainment, and the reason is simple: money.
That’s how Ben Richards, played by Powell, enters the competition. Driven by the need to save his ailing daughter, he quickly becomes popular with viewers, much to the annoyance of those running the show. They try to eliminate him by making the challenges increasingly dangerous, because they don’t want him to succeed. The premise is pretty dark, but I’ll watch anything with Colman Domingo as the host.
