To celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Fathom Entertainment and Warner Bros. are bringing all three extended edition films back to movie theaters. Fans can experience the complete trilogy on the big screen over two weekends: January 16-18 and January 23-25. Tickets are available now.
When the movies return to theaters, some locations will offer special DBOX showings during the opening weekend. Plus, there will be new merchandise available! AMC Theatres will sell a limited-edition popcorn bucket shaped like a map, complete with a set of magnetic quest markers. Regal and other independent theaters will offer a collectible tin designed like the One Ring from The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Entertainment, praised the Lord of the Rings trilogy as a groundbreaking achievement in filmmaking, noting its breathtaking visuals, compelling story, and outstanding performances. He stated that the films significantly raised the standard for cinematic experiences. To commemorate the 25th anniversary of The Fellowship of the Ring in 2026, Fathom Entertainment is partnering with Warner Bros. to showcase all three extended editions of Peter Jackson’s films, including in the immersive 4DX format, for both longtime fans and new audiences.

The extended editions of Peter Jackson’s films include nearly three extra hours of footage, bringing the total runtime of the trilogy to over 12 hours. That’s a full day spent watching The Lord of the Rings – perfect for a January movie marathon! It’s quite a commitment, isn’t it?
And that’s only counting the first time we see them.
