The Internet Reacts to New POKÉMON WINDS and WAVES Starters

There’s almost nothing the internet loves more than new Pokémon starters! So, the announcement of Pokémon Winds and Waves, along with its Gen 10 starters – Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua – was met with a lot of excitement. These new Pokémon – a cute but grumpy chick, a playful fire puppy, and a clever gecko – are sure to delight fans and fill a special place in their hearts. It’s a fantastic reveal!

It’s been four years since we celebrated the Starter Pokémon from Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet (Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly), and it was a blast! We’ve been eagerly awaiting new starters ever since. Now that Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua are here, let’s see what everyone online is saying about the new grass, fire, and water types – whether you’ve already picked your favorite or are still deciding!

Pombon is definitely a puppy! Fans immediately started imagining how that would fit into both the Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves storylines, and they have a point.

Some fans pointed out this new Pokémon puppy could be trouble for fire-type Pokémon like Litten. It also makes you wonder how the Pokémon Meowth would react if it ever crossed paths with Pombon.

We’ll be honest, Pombon is our favorite starter Pokémon from Pokémon Winds and Waves. But Browt is great too! Its grumpy personality and little ‘bean chick’ look are endearing, and you definitely know when it’s upset – just watch out if it puts its wings on its hips!

Honestly, I think we all know who the real star of the Gen 10 starters is! I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Gecqua just knows how to command attention and be fabulous, and I love it. It seems like everyone online feels the same way about this Water-type Pokémon!

We also love this reaction to the water-type Starter Pokémon. Gecqua’s eyes are, indeed, iconic.
