At the highly anticipated and spectacular “Back to the Beginning” concert headlined by Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, music enthusiasts might have been taken aback to learn that Yungblud was involved. The day was expected to be the pinnacle of heavy metal music. However, it’s important to note that Yungblud doesn’t fall into the category of a traditional metal artist.
It’s possible that Yungblud paid for his spot in the concert, considering Tom Morello (previously of Rage Against the Machine) wasn’t at his best in terms of recent success. However, such an act doesn’t quite align with Tom Morello’s character.
It seems that, according to Yungblud himself (formerly known as Dominic Richard Harrison), Ozzy Osbourne had taken him under his wing and offered both musical guidance and life advice. So, it’s more accurate to say that Yungblud was like an adopted son rather than an uninvited guest.
The Darkness and Yungblud feud is the one music fans didn’t know we needed
It’s worth noting that Justin and Dan Hawkins from The Darkness didn’t find favor with the tribute to Ozzy Osbourne during the MTV VMAs, which included Yungblud, Joe Perry, Steven Tyler, and Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme (apparently a modern recreation of the original “Back to the Beginning” farewell). After this performance, Dan Hawkins wasn’t shy in expressing his critical opinion.
On Instagram, Hawkins expressed his disappointment by saying, “Yet another blow to the world of rock ‘n’ roll. It’s disheartening, distasteful, and most significantly; it’s substandard. It leaves me feeling queasy observing how individuals exploit this for their personal advancement.
Could there be a possibility that he’s mistaken? As for Tyler and Perry, it’s unlikely they require support to advance their careers given their solid foundations laid long ago. On the other hand, there might be some question about Yungblud’s situation.
As a dedicated gamer diving into the world of virtual concerts, I must admit that his voice is quite captivating. However, during his performance, it seems like he’s putting a little too much emotion into every note, making it feel overly sincere. Now, don’t get me wrong, I appreciate that he might be an Ozzy Osbourne fan and performing one of his songs, but it doesn’t mean he needs to look like he’s got a serious crush on the legend himself. A touch of enthusiasm is great, but let’s keep it authentic, not overly affectionate.
In a more recent episode of his podcast titled “Justin Hawkins Rides Again“, Dan’s musical sibling, Justin (from the band The Darkness), has expressed his views. He supports Dan using rational arguments in his stance.
Justin Hawkins stated this week there’s been talk about his brother’s comments on the Ozzy tribute and Yungblud at the VMAs. He mentioned that what bothers some older musicians is Yungblud seemingly claiming the mantle of Ozzy’s successor, with little regard for the truly significant aspects.
Indeed, it’s also accurate and reminisces about Yungblud’s performance at Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s farewell concert. At the event, the talented young singer displayed a powerful voice, yet questions about his fittingness arose. Rather than relying on others for success, he should strive to carve out his unique path, provided he has the ability to do so independently.
