Tekashi 6ix9ine is heading back to jail

As a long-time follower of hip-hop and its tumultuous journey, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions when it comes to Tekashi 6ix9ine‘s latest legal troubles. On one hand, it’s disheartening to see an artist who has shown incredible talent and potential being caught up in the same cycle of mistakes that have plagued so many before him.

Previously, we announced that Tekashi 6ix9ine had been transferred to Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, a facility where Diddy is also being detained. The reason behind this move was that Tekashi allegedly breached the conditions of his supervised release by visiting Las Vegas without prior approval, neglecting mandatory drug tests, and testing positive for Methamphetamine.

Currently, according to reports from XXL, Tekashi’s legal representative and the Southern District of New York have come to a terms, resulting in Tekashi serving a month in jail. This is due to his confession of violating probation. Additionally, he will receive an extra year of probation following this sentence, and during the initial three months after his release, he will be under house arrest. It’s also stated that he must wear an ankle monitor as an added condition.

Additionally, he must relinquish his passport and is restricted from traveling abroad. This limitation undoubtedly has implications for the latest agreement he sealed with Kartel Music, which involves embarking on a global tour and unveiling what he terms as “Mexican regional music” under their label.

The agreement could potentially end due to a provision stating that Tekashi must avoid legal issues. However, despite his admission of breaching the conditions of his monitored release, he initially disputed it.

Tekashi stated last month: “Today was the day my probation officially started, as I understand it,” he said. He has a court appearance scheduled for the 29th of this month. They informed him that he tested positive for crystal meth on August 27th and for marijuana on another occasion. His probation ends on April 2nd, 2025.

“I’ve been on probation for five years,” he continued. “Now that you come at the end of probation, I don’t know … Listen, anybody who knows Danny, anybody who knows Tekashi, I don’t do drugs. I don’t smoke marijuana. If you’ve ever seen me with a blunt I’ll give you $50,000.”
