Many viewers (including myself and some others I’m acquainted with) felt a bit underwhelmed by the third season of Apple TV’s Ted Lasso. At that time, it was billed as the final season, yet it seemed like crucial plot points were left unresolved. It was puzzling why the show should conclude when Ted (Jason Sudeikis), who made a realistic but dull choice in the series by going to be with his son, still had so many other stories left untold at AFC Richmond. Fortunately, those responsible for creating the show recognized there were more tales to tell and are currently working on season four.
According to a recent update from Variety, the fourth season of Ted Lasso is underway! Many familiar faces are reprising their roles, including Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift. Newcomers joining the cast include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely. You might recognize Marsay from her role as Vel in Andor. Additionally, it has been confirmed that Grant Feely will be stepping into the role of Ted’s son Henry.
For this season, the main theme is: ‘Ted comes back to Richmond, tackling his most daunting task yet – coaching a women’s football team in the second division. As the season unfolds, Ted and his team discover the courage to act before thinking, venturing into opportunities they never imagined they would.’
Besides taking on the lead role, Sudeikis will also serve as an executive producer. Additionally, Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, and Bill Wrubel are also executive producers. Goldstein has been signed up to write and executive produce as well, with Leanne Bowen joining in that capacity too.
We’re thrilled to welcome back many key figures and artists for the upcoming installment. However, the shift in main production from London to Kansas City does give us pause. After all, London, particularly Richmond, was instrumental in capturing the essence of the series. But only time will reveal the outcome, and we must remain hopeful.
