It’s surprising to reflect on the fact that my initial reading of Tarah DeWitt’s work was “Savor It“. Given its publication year of 2024, it seems like quite a leap from where I stand today.
Ever since I’ve discovered that DeWitt’s books are popular, I’ve been delving deeper into her work, and that’s why I was thrilled for the release of Left of Forever. Not only did she hint at it in Savor It, but this book includes one of my all-time favorite literary themes.
I find the rekindled romance of a married couple particularly captivating. It’s not always simple to execute this narrative device effectively, but with Tarah DeWitt, I had no doubts. In fact, her work in this area has only heightened my anticipation for future projects.
It’s a pleasure to express my gratitude to St. Martin’s Griffin for providing me with an Advance Reader Copy (ARC). This allowed me to delve into the book earlier, and in return, I had the opportunity to share my thoughts on it through a review.
Left of Forever is an emotional yet excellently told romance.
Before diving into my review, I’d recommend revisiting the novel “Savor It” to refresh your memory about the characters and their relationships. For me, understanding the connections took a bit of time, but it didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment if you opted not to reread it.
Titled “Left of Forever,” the story revolves around Ellis and Wren, a divorced couple with a son preparing for college. Initially, their history suggests a strained relationship, but a lingering bond is hinted at from the start. The intrigue deepens when Wren begins writing to Ellis without initially recognizing him as the recipient. This unexpected correspondence ultimately sparks a renewed interest in reconciling their past and potentially rekindling their relationship.
We observe Wren and Ellis gradually reacquainting themselves, learning anew about each other in the process. Married young, they bore heavy responsibilities that few could manage effortlessly. Added to this burden was infertility, which ultimately proved a significant challenge in their relationship’s survival. If you are sensitive to discussions about infertility, please be aware that it is mentioned herein.
Eventually, “Left of Forever” is a tale that explores the rekindling romance between two individuals who share a rich past. It appears they may have more chapters in their love story yet to be written. Reading this book can be challenging at moments, but witnessing Ellis and Wren finding their way back to one another makes it all worthwhile. Remarkably, any potential disagreements are swiftly addressed, allowing the narrative to continue its course.
This captivating tale is packed with delightful elements and intriguing mysteries that will keep you engrossed from start to finish. In fact, it leaves me eagerly anticipating Tarah DeWitt’s future projects. If the themes resonate with you, this book should definitely be added to your spring reading list.
Left of Forever by Tarah DeWitt is out now where books are sold.
