Takehiro Hira, who played Ishido Kazunari in the popular show “Shogun,” recently gave some clues about what might happen to his character in the next season.
At the Los Angeles premiere of his new show, “Rental Family,” Hira told reporters he’s only read one script for the second season, but he has a general idea of what to expect.
Hira explained that while he couldn’t reveal specific details, his character in ‘Shogun’ is based on a real historical person who didn’t live long after a major battle. He hinted that his character’s time on the show is limited, saying, ‘My days are numbered.’
He hinted that his character would likely die with dignity, then playfully suggested, “But I could return as a…” before stopping himself from saying any more.
Hira was nominated for an Emmy last year for his supporting role in the drama series “Shogun.” The second season, set a decade after the first, will continue the story and show how the characters have changed over the years.
