T.I. talks about the rumor that he had beef with Lil Wayne

As a long-time fan of both T.I. and Lil Wayne, I have to say that this whole situation leaves me feeling like I’m navigating a labyrinth of rap beefs and reconciliations. On one hand, it’s heartening to hear T.I. speak so highly of their mutual respect and shared history, as evidenced by their collaborative efforts on hits like “Swagga Like Us.” On the other hand, I can’t help but shake off a lingering feeling of unease after reading about T.I.’s scathing criticism of Lil Wayne in 2016 over his remarks about Black Lives Matter.

Recently, T.I. conversed with Fat Joe on his podcast, “Fat Joe Chats.” During their discussion, they covered various subjects, including a gossip item about a supposed rift between T.I. and Lil Wayne.

Joe mentioned that he first learned about the rumor when Kanye West, Jay-Z, M.I.A., Wayne, and T.I. collaborated on the song “Swagga Like Us” around that time. This song is featured on T.I.’s sixth album titled “Paper Trail,” with Kanye producing the track.

During the interview, T.I. dismissed the rumor about his beef with Wayne as unfounded and stated that they hold mutual respect for each other. He explained, “We’ve worked on numerous songs together,” adding, “People may talk because they have mouths, but there is genuine respect present.” Elaborating further, he said, “Even in the toughest of battles, you always end up having a newfound respect for the person you fought against. It’s just how it goes.

The Atlanta-raised rapper also explained how “Swagga Like Us” came about and said he was doubtful that all those big-named rappers would get on the song.

According to T.I., he was the first one to use a beat that Kanye West produced, which included a sample from M.I.A. Gee Roberson had given him this beat. Kanye was also on the hook for the song, and then Kanye suggested adding Lil Wayne and Jay-Z to it. T.I.’s response was something like, “Get out of here!” or “Seriously? You’ve got to be kidding me!

As a gamer, I may say: Although Tip claimed there were no problems between us back then, he went off on Young Money’s Wayne in 2016. This was immediately following some controversial comments Wayne made about the Black Lives Matter movement. He asserted that he doesn’t feel associated with it since he sees it as having nothing to do with him personally.

Translated: “T.I. expressed that whatever difficulties or evasions you may be facing right now, this behavior is completely unacceptable!! Moreover, if you lack the principles to stand for something in this world, then all your wealth, possessions, luxury items, and chart-topping music don’t carry any significance!!
