Actress Sydney Sweeney is set to feature in an upcoming movie based on a video game, which is being developed by Universal Pictures. The movie will be adapting the classic 1986 arcade racing game called “OutRun,” with Michael Bay as the director.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t wait for Michael Bay’s next project – a film based on some high-octane action from Sega, produced by Bay and Brad Fuller through their agreement with Universal via Platinum Dunes. The production will also be under the watch of Sega Corporation president and COO Shuji Utsumi. Jayson Rothwell has been entrusted to pen the screenplay for this project, but specifics are being tightly guarded at the moment. Toru Nakahara is also involved in producing the film on behalf of Sega.
Back in the 80s, the Sega OutRun series was a massive hit among arcade games, standing out as one of the decade’s most popular titles. It paved the way for driving games and even influenced electronic music genres. Now, the OutRun movie is following in the footsteps of Universal’s recent box office successes like The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which raked in over $1.4 billion USD, and Five Nights at Freddy’s, earning $290 million USD worldwide. Keep an eye out for more updates!
