Sydney Sweeney & Amanda Seyfried Serve Secrets in the New ‘The Housemaid’ Trailer

A trailer is now available for The Housemaid, a new psychological thriller from director Paul Feig. Based on Freida McFadden’s popular 2022 novel, the movie stars Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried in a suspenseful story about the dark secrets lurking beneath a seemingly perfect life.

Lionsgate will release the film in the United States on December 19.

I just finished watching a really gripping thriller, and let me tell you, it hooked me from the start. The film centers around Millie Calloway, played by Sweeney, a woman trying to escape a difficult past by becoming a live-in maid for the seemingly perfect Winchester family, headed by Seyfried’s Nina. Initially, they appear to have it all – wealth, beauty, and sophistication. But Millie quickly senses something is deeply unsettling beneath the surface, and what she uncovers completely upends everything she thought she knew.

The movie features Brandon Sklenar as Andrew Winchester, who is married to Nina, and Michele Morrone as Enzo, the family’s groundskeeper. Elizabeth Perkins plays Andrew’s mother, Evelyn, and Indiana Elle is their daughter, Cecelia. Rounding out the cast are Mark Grossman, Hannah Cruz, Megan Ferguson, and Ellen Tamaki.

Filming for the movie took place in New Jersey from January to March. Paul Feig, the director known for films such as A Simple Favor and Bridesmaids, worked from a screenplay by Rebecca Sonnenshine. Feig also produced the film with Todd Lieberman and Laura Fischer through Hidden Pictures. Sydney Sweeney and Jane Seyfried served as executive producers, along with the book’s author, Freida McFadden, and Alex Young.

Composer Theodore Shapiro, a frequent collaborator of Feig’s, created the score for the film.
