Swifties should be unthankful as Billboard disrespects Taylor Swift

As a gamer who has spent countless hours playing rhythm games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, I can confidently say that Taylor Swift should be crowned the Queen of Pop, not just a princess. Her music is more than just catchy tunes; it’s a symphony of emotions that resonates with millions worldwide.

Taylor Swift is often referred to as the reigning queen of pop music, but surprisingly, Billboard, the authority on music charts, considers her more of a pop princess rather than a queen. Let’s delve deeper into this unexpected perspective soon.

Billboard is gradually revealing its list of the Top Pop Stars of the 21st Century, and there are some intriguing aspects to it. Notably, at least four out of the top six musical artists will be women. After a long period where male dominance was prevalent in pop and rock, it’s empowering to see female artists assertively taking their rightful place. They not only excel in singing and dancing but also showcase an impressive ability to create remarkably good songs.

In a ranking, Britney Spears is placed at position six, Lady Gaga follows at five, Drake takes fourth place, Rihanna holds third, and Taylor Swift surprisingly secures the second spot. However, it’s interesting to note that despite her transition from country music in the 2010s, Taylor Swift has not only dominated pop music but also significantly impacted the broader culture as a whole, landing her in this high position.

Taylor Swift gets too low of ranking in Billboard’s list of Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century

It seems that Billboard hasn’t revealed the top spot just yet, but it looks likely that Beyoncé will claim it. This assumption is backed by the fact that she doesn’t appear in the top six anywhere else, and it’s hard to imagine her not making it. However, one might question whether Beyoncé fits squarely into the pop genre or leans more towards R&B. Moreover, if Billboard chooses not to include Taylor Swift’s early country records, they would also have to exclude Beyoncé’s latest album, “Cowboy Carter,” which falls under the country music category.

This is not to say that Beyoncé or Taylor Swift are not deserving of the top spot, but only one can rule them all, and that has to be Swift. For example, both artists had concert films come out over the last year, but Beyoncé’s film, Renaissance, grossed around $44 million while Swift’s Eras Tour film grossed $261 million. That alone tells someone the power of Swift versus the wonderful Beyoncé.

Once more, it’s undeniable that both Beyoncé and Taylor Swift excel in their respective fields. However, there can only be one ultimate champion on the Billboard rankings, and that should be Taylor Swift. If it turns out that Beyoncé isn’t currently at the top spot and someone else is, then the entire Billboard ranking might indeed seem questionable.
