Surf & Speed Unite: MINI JCW x Deus Ex Machina Reveal Dual One-Off Cars

Deus Ex Machina collaborates with MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) to produce unique, custom-made cars for a single release. These cars combine MINI’s racing legacy and Deus’s lifestyle philosophy. The exclusive MINI JCW x DEUS pair will debut at IAA Mobility 2025 on September 6 in Munich at the MINI Pavilion, featuring a prominent white “X” emblem on each vehicle, symbolizing their joint creative project.

The two vehicles have similar sturdy foundations, borrowed from a MINI John Cooper Works model. However, they differ significantly in their powertrains and overall character. One is an electric JCW J01, generating up to 190 kW or 258 horsepower, designed as a coastal native with surf-themed graphics and elements that evoke beach culture. The other, a gasoline-powered JCW F66 producing 170 kW or 231 horsepower, is inspired by the racetrack, featuring a streamlined, performance-oriented design – a testament to MINI’s racing heritage.

The unique design of the show cars was a product of a genuine collaboration between multiple brands. Carby Tuckwell, Creative Director at Deus, and Matt Willey, his long-time design partner, teamed up with MINI’s design team led by Holger Hampf, along with Designworks based in Munich. Together they designed both the interior and exterior of these vehicles, combining artistic finesse with engineering precision. The result is two individual yet harmonious designs, sharing similar dimensions, signature color schemes, and customized details.

In collaboration, MINI JCW and DEUS have created a unisex capsule collection inspired by their shared spirit, set to debut at IAA on September 6, 2025. This collection draws upon the core essence of both brands – precision engineering, classic aesthetics, and meticulous craftsmanship. By utilizing premium materials and considerate tailoring, the range seamlessly blends motorsport sophistication with contemporary streetwear fashion. After its launch in Munich, the collection will be distributed globally through Deus Ex Machina.
