On its very first Monday, James Gunn’s Superman film maintained its remarkable performance at the U.S. box office, earning approximately $12.9 million – a figure that ranks as one of the top five strongest Mondays ever for a DC film.
In my humble opinion, the impressive opening of the DCU reboot has catapulted it to a position that trails only the legendary performances of The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, and Batman v Superman – all of which earned more on their respective premier Mondays (without factoring in inflation). However, it surpasses both Suicide Squad and Man of Steel in this regard, making it a formidable contender in the DC Universe.
As a cinema devotee, I must say that the impressive $12.9M earnings we witnessed also brought about a notable dip of approximately 58.8% from Sunday’s numbers. Remarkably, this decline outshone drops experienced by other comic book blockbusters such as Thor: Love and Thunder (-62.5%) and The Batman (-68.3%).

Third Biggest Monday of 2025
Superman also notched the #3 biggest Monday of the year, beating out:
- Jurassic World: Rebirth ($11.7M)
- Captain America: Brave New World ($11.2M, holiday)
- Minecraft ($9.9M)
In the year 2025, during the Memorial Day holiday, only “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” and a remake of “Lilo & Stitch” from Disney managed to record higher earnings on Monday, with figures of $15 million and $36.5 million respectively.

One of the Top Solo Superhero Mondays Ever
As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that among all those incredible solo superhero flicks, my beloved Superman now sits at the 8th highest Monday box office earnings of all time! This means it surpasses the impressive numbers racked up by Spider-Man: Homecoming and Man of Steel, and only trails Shang-Chi and Deadpool (disregarding inflation adjustments). It’s a testament to the enduring power of the Man of Steel!
Top solo CBM Mondays (domestic):
- Black Panther – $40.1M
- No Way Home – $37.1M
- Spider-Man 2 – $27.7M
- The Dark Knight – $24.5M
- Deadpool – $19.8M
- The Dark Knight Rises – $19.4M
- Shang-Chi – $18.9M
- Superman – $12.9M
$200M Incoming by Saturday
In just four days, the domestic earnings of “Superman” have reached approximately $137.9 million. This figure is expected to surpass $150 million tonight, and by Saturday at the latest, it should reach an impressive $200 million. These projections indicate a robust box office performance for the DCU as we approach the weekend.
Note: Luiz Fernando on X put the numbers together.
As of Sunday, Superman brought in $95M internationally.
