9. ‘Practical Magic’ (1998)
As a big movie fan, I always enjoy revisiting ‘Practical Magic’. It’s based on the Alice Hoffman novel and the script was a real collaborative effort – Robin Swicord, Akiva Goldsman, and Adam Brooks all had a hand in it. Plus, the cast is fantastic! Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are brilliant as the Owens sisters, and you’ve also got wonderful performances from Dianne Wiest, Stockard Channing, and Aidan Quinn.
The movie centers on sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, who come from a family of witches, and their struggle against a dangerous curse and a malevolent spirit linked to Gillian’s controlling ex-boyfriend. It’s become a beloved film with a dedicated fanbase, and people are still captivated by the story and eager to see what happens to these characters next.
