At long last, Superman has graced the big screen, and the film is breaking box office records left and right. This isn’t just a major motion picture due to James Gunn’s debut in the DC Universe; fans are equally thrilled because it presents an array of new characters, both heroic and villainous. Among these fresh faces are heroes such as Mr. Terrific, Metamorpho, and Guy Gardner, and villains like Ultraman and Lex Luthor.
As a die-hard fan, I must admit that Supergirl, portrayed wonderfully by Milly Alcock, was the unexpected highlight of Gunn’s DCU debut. Instead of the grandiose entrance we were anticipating, she made a casual appearance near the end of the film, simply to retrieve her trusty canine companion, Krypto. It was an unconventional entrance that added an intriguing twist to the character.
remarkably odd, her behavior deviated significantly from the norm for a hero, as she appeared to be intoxicated. What made matters worse was an instance where she addressed Superman disrespectfully, using an offensive term, which left spectators stunned.
Superman clarified Kara’s behavior. He mentioned that she enjoys partying on worlds with red suns because it allows her to experience the alcohol’s effects as an ordinary being since Earth’s yellow sun grants Kryptonians superpowers and accelerates their bodies too much for them to get drunk like humans.
Shortly following the release of the movie, Milly Alcock jumped into the excitement. She shared a humorous meme on her social platform that had fans in stitches. In the meme, Alcock is depicted relaxing, puffing on a cigarette while scrolling through her phone with a weary, disheveled expression. The caption read: “Supergirl while Metropolis is nearly ruined.” Fans interpreted it as a light-hearted jest about the perceived laziness and disorderliness of her portrayal of Supergirl.
Director James Gunn expressed thoughts on the character Kara, discussing her challenging life. In his words: “She’s a complete wreck, if you will. I think, as we discover, she comes from a completely distinct upbringing compared to Superman. Her background was far more tumultuous than his, who had this ideal upbringing by loving and healthy parents.
After meeting Milly Alcock as Supergirl, fans won’t have to wait much longer to catch more of her in action! Next year, she’ll star in her very own film titled “Supergirl.” This movie will take us on an exhilarating journey that takes her far from Earth. It’s adapted from the comic “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” where Kara finds herself stranded on a distant planet and becomes instrumental in leading a rebellion against tyrannical rulers.
In the comic books, Kara Zor-El hails from Argo City, a distinct region of Krypton. Initially intended to care for her newborn cousin Kal-El upon their arrival on Earth, her spaceship got misdirected, causing her to arrive much later when Superman was fully grown. This left her feeling perplexed and isolated as she struggled to find her place in a world where her cousin had already become the iconic Superman.
On June 26, 2026, you’ll find her standalone movie in cinemas. Ever since her unconventional debut as Superman’s cousin, there’s been a buzz among fans to witness more of this turbulent and disorderly Supergirl. Until the big day, Milly Alcock’s humorous meme offers a sneak peek into the kind of Supergirl we can expect.
