The humor group known as Broken Lizard has commenced filming for Super Troopers 3. Led by members including Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske, they wrote the script and will resume their characters in the movie. Jay Chandrasekhar will be behind the camera as director, while Richard Perello takes on production duties. The main shooting is scheduled to start later this week based on studio reports.
New cast and returning favorites
In this latest development, Brian Cox resumes his role as Captain John O’Hagan, while Marisa Coughlan reappears as Ursula Hanson. Joining them are Nat Faxon as Captain Todd Markowski, Chace Crawford portraying Baker Buchanan, and Andrew Dismukes stepping into the character of Coy Burns, according to Variety. This fresh lineup introduces both seasoned actors and new humorous personalities to the series.
Searchlight Pictures expressed delight over their partnership with Broken Lizard. “Broken Lizard has been a valued member of our family for more than two decades,” said Matthew Greenfield, President of Searchlight Pictures. “We’re ecstatic about another addition to the ‘Super Troopers’ series. The unique blend of humor in ‘Super Troopers’ makes the ridiculous seem inevitable, and we can’t wait to embark on another journey with these characters who bring joy and laughter wherever they go.
Who’s joining the cast?
In simpler terms, the announcement from Broken Lizard reveals their main cast members and familiar guest stars rejoining for the project. Their past works include films like Super Troopers (2001), Super Troopers 2 (2018), Club Dread, Beerfest, and The Slammin’ Salmon. For this upcoming sequel, the creative process remains consistent with Broken Lizard penning the script, Chandrasekhar directing, and Searchlight serving as the production partner.
As a lifestyle expert enthusiastically embracing the return of theater-style humor, allow me to echo the sentiments of Broken Lizard: “It’s time to dust off those mustaches, America!” This phrase subtly suggests that we’re in for another dose of the quirky blend of slapstick and eccentric scenes that have become synonymous with this beloved franchise.
As reported by Variety, Apolline Berty, Richard Ruiz, and Daniel Yu have been appointed as the executives responsible for the project at Searchlight. They will be reporting to co-heads DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas. In addition, the announcement also specified the representation for the main cast.
