We often play video games where we kill zombies, taking them down with a single hit or emptying a machine gun into them. But what about being the zombie? That’s the idea behind Stupid Never Dies, announced at The Game Awards 2025. You play as Davy, an undead character, and since you’re already dead, you have the power to raise other undead creatures to fight the remaining monsters!
Stupid Never Dies is an action RPG created by GPTRACK50, a studio headed by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who previously worked at Capcom. The game is launching on PlayStation 5 and PC. The reveal trailer from The Game Awards begins with a cinematic intro showcasing the protagonist, Davy, and the character he’s trying to rescue, Julia, before quickly diving into actual gameplay footage.

The gameplay in Stupid Never Dies is very similar to Devil May Cry, featuring fast-paced combat with lots of zombie slicing and attacks that neatly divide enemies into three pieces. Being part of the undead world gives the main character, Davy, some cool abilities: he can copy enemy attacks, summon undead allies, enhance his body with gadgets, and seemingly avoid death.

Hiroyuki Kobayashi, known for his work on games like Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, and Dragon’s Dogma, is now developing Stupid Never Dies. While set in a zombie-filled world, the game focuses on rescuing Julia, the human character shown in the trailer, rather than traditional horror. Details about the story are currently limited, but the game is expected to release in 2026.
