As a devoted admirer of Lena Dunham‘s work, I must admit that her romantic dramedy, Too Much, may not have created a significant ripple on Netflix’s worldwide charts, but that hasn’t deterred the creative mind behind the series from continuing the story. With whispers circulating about a possible renewal, Dunham is already contemplating the direction of a potential second season. Rather than focusing on another “meet cute,” she is keen on delving immediately into the aftermath of the impulsive wedding that concluded season one.
No renewal yet, but Dunham has plans
It’s uncertain if Netflix will bring back the series “Too Much,” as its initial release did not rank among the top 10 globally. However, Lena Dunham’s recent statements hint that she still has stories to share about Jessica and Felix, suggesting there might be more to come.
Regarding the second season, we haven’t reached that point yet,” she shared with The Hollywood Reporter. She further explained, “A marriage doesn’t signal the end of a love story; it marks its beginning.” Her focus is on delving into the authentic experiences of two individuals who barely know each other being unexpectedly bound by a lifelong promise.
There’s still a wealth of topics left for exploration, ranging from understanding each other’s peculiarities to handling family matters, discussing future goals, and resolving conflicts, according to Dunham.
Cast is on board for more
Megan Stalter, the actress who portrays Jessica, shared similar sentiments in an interview with The Wrap, questioning, “If they’re married, then what happens next?” It is rumored that Will Sharpe and Emily Ratajkowski, whose characters Felix and Wendy were instrumental in Jessica’s complicated romantic drama, might reprise their roles.
Ratajkowski confirmed that Dunham has already prepared plotlines for her character, Wendy. While the show’s renewal isn’t guaranteed yet, Dunham’s ongoing contract with Netflix and her excitement might pave the way for another season of “Too Much.
