‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Casts Marvin Jones III as Notable Supervillain

Marvin Jones III, known for his role in *Black Lightning*, is set to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the villain Tombstone. According to *Deadline*, he’ll be part of the upcoming *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* film. While neither Marvel nor Sony has officially confirmed the news, sources indicate Jones III has been cast.

Jones is already well-known to fans of the character, having voiced Tombstone in the animated film *Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse* and set to reprise the role in the sequel, *Beyond the Spider-Verse*. Now, he’s taking on the villainous part in a live-action adaptation as well.

Lonnie Lincoln, better known as Tombstone, has been a recurring villain for Spider-Man in the comic books since his debut in 1988. He’s easily recognizable for his striking appearance – pale skin, a towering height, and a generally cold and intimidating personality.

Lincoln was born with albinism, which made him feel like an outsider growing up. This led him down a path of crime, and he quickly became a tough and intimidating enforcer for various mob leaders.

A significant part of Tombstone’s story centers around his relationship with Robbie Robertson, who works as an editor at the Daily Bugle.

Robbie and Lincoln went to school together, and as teenagers, Robbie stayed silent about Lincoln’s wrongdoing after receiving a threat. Years later, Lincoln’s return to power as a New York enforcer brought Robbie’s long-held secret to light, forcing him to confront the past.

Filming for the new Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day, began in August, taking place in Glasgow, Scotland, and at Pinewood Studios in England. As part of Marvel’s Phase Six, the movie is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on July 31, 2026.
