Shia LaBeouf had a tense and emotional encounter with police on the morning of March 20th in New Orleans. Video of the incident, which happened near his home, quickly spread online.

The video shows the actor visibly agitated while trying to explain a car-related issue to the police. Although it’s hard to make out exactly what he’s saying, he can be seen raising his clothing and making what looks like a religious sign during the conversation.

Shia LaBeouf eventually showed the officers a security camera on his property and his phone as proof of what happened. He explained that he’s often the focus of public attention, saying, “You need to understand, I’m a target.”

Things escalated when the actor started pacing and yelling, focusing on his duties as a father to his young child. He also brought up his past, revealing he’d spent several months in jail after being involved in a fight.

As LaBeouf became increasingly upset, he repeatedly said he didn’t trust the people in charge. The video then shows him sitting on the ground, clearly distressed and yelling at someone who isn’t visible in the shot.

He yelled, “What are you saying?! That’s why I don’t call you!” and then became very upset. The officers left, leaving him alone and clearly still distressed.

This latest issue comes after a difficult beginning to the year for LaBeouf, who was arrested twice in February. The first arrest happened during Mardi Gras at a bar, where he was accused of assault and using inappropriate language.
